Fuel prices are constantly changing due to simple supply and demand or global economics. That means companies like CPS Energy are unable to charge a simple, flat fee every month for gas and electric service. Therefore, when you pay your bill each month, it’s important for you to understand what you are paying for.
Most bills, whether they are credit card payments or requests for payment from other utilities, can be complicated. They can include numerous fees and regulatory charges in addition to measuring the amount of service you use. At CPS Energy, we do our best to simplify our bills for our customers. However, electricity is measured by kilowatt hours and gas by cubic feet. By the nature of our industry, our bills include fuel and regulatory charges. We also are a municipal utility and our bill includes fees for services unrelated to energy use that are charged by our owner, the City of San Antonio.
